Kiinde Kozii Bottle Warmer Review – Why is Kiinde Kozii Bottle Warmer the best bottle warmer?

Some bottle warmers can destroy nutrients in breast milk. Therefore, finding a bottle warmer that can preserve nutrients were important to me. After careful research, I chose  Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer. Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer not only preserves nutrients and antibodies in breast milk but also offers many benefits. It really helped me during busy period when I had to care for my baby.  In this post, I share with you why Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer is the best bottle warmer available.

Do You Need A Bottle Warmer?

A bottle warmer is not a necessity. However, it does provide a lot of convenience when you have to warm liquid or food. Moms often express breast milk and store it in the bottle, then in the fridge or freezer to feed a baby at later time.  Breastmilk is at around the average human body temperature of 98 degrees. Therefore, if you store breast milk in the fridge or freezer, it needs to be heated to the body temperature before feeding it to a baby.

When baby feeds often, especially in the beginning month (when you are sleep-deprived), a bottle warmer comes in very handy. When baby is crying for feeding, last thing you want to do is to take your time and offer milk with no urgency. You want to have it ready and serve it as soon as possible. Even with a bottle warmer, I sometimes felt I couldn’t wait until the bottle was warm.

A bottle warmer definitely offers convenience where you don’t have to boil water yourself to warm a  bottle. Yes, you can boil water and place a bottle yourself in the hot water for it to slowly warm up.  However, warming a bottle in hot water is actually not recommended since it can still kill nutrients. Therefore, in order to preserve nutrients in breast milk, a bottle should be warmed in warm water instead of hot water. This will make a bottle warming process take longer.  A bottle warmer also times the bottle warming process so it stops at the right temperature. When you prepare water yourself, on the other hand, water may be too hot or too cold.

You can also warm frozen baby food in a glass container that fits in the bottle warmer. This provides a quick way to warm frozen baby food when you need it. If you thaw food or warm the food in the hot water, it will take longer. The warming process in the bottle warmer is timed so you don’t have to stay by the bottle warmer to finish. You can do something else and come back to it when the timer goes off. It frees you up during the bottle warming process. It is not an absolute must-have but it is nice to have which can make your life a little easier and less stressful when you are so busy with your baby. A bottle warmer saves time and provides convenience.

Kiinde Kozii Bottle Warmer Pros

It preserves the nutrients.

What makes Kiinde Kozii bottle water stand out from all other bottle warmer is that Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer preserves the nutrients and antibodies in breast milk.  According to American Academy of Pediatrics, when you heat up the breast milk in the microwave, high temperature can destroy important proteins ad vitamins in milk. Microwave also does not heat bottles evenly, therefore, hot spots can be created and they can burn baby’s mouth. High temperature can also cause plastics to leak BPA and phthalates into milk or food if you are using plastic bottles or containers. The same goes  for boiling water. Therefore, if you were to warm baby bottle without a bottle warmer, you should warm the bottle in warm water, not in boiling water.

A bottle warmer heats a bottle using steam or water bath. When you use steam to warm a bottle, the bottle heats faster. However, the bottle can be heated unevenly or temperature can get high and destroy important nutrients. A bottle warmer using water bath uses low temperature water to warm a bottle so milk is heated more evenly and nutrients are preserved. Therefore, a bottle warmer that uses water bath is better than a bottle warmer using steam.  Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer uses a low-temperature water bath to heat a bottle and food which preserves the nutrients. Although a bottle warmer that uses water bath is a little slower than a steam bottle warmer, it is worth it since you can preserve nutrients. Like Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer, Chicco NaturalFit Two-in-One and Philips Avent Fast also use a water bath method to heat a bottle.

It is Compatible With All Bottle Sizes.

There Is No Need To Add Water.

For some bottle warmers, you must add water every time a bottle is heated. For Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer, on the other hand, you don’t have to add water every time you heat up a bottle. You add water in the beginning and the water is kept in a water reservoir. When you heat up a bottle in Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer, the water level rises up to create warm water bath. After bottle is heated and the timer is up, the water drains back into the reservoir in the bottom. You don’t have to add water for the next bottle. Water will rise up again from the hidden bottom reservoir. When the bottle warmer finishes heating up a bottle, the water will go down. Therefore, the bottle won’t get overheated even if you don’t take the bottle out right away.

It Looks Nice.

Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer has a compact design. It is small enough to place it in the kitchen. It looks pretty simple and nice with white color.

It Is Easy to use.

Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer is very easy to use too. All you have to do is place a bottle in the bottle warmer and turn the timer switch to start warming the bottle. When the timer is up, the bottle is ready to serve.

Kiinde Kozii Bottle Warmer Cons

It Has Higher Price Than Other Bottle Warmers.

Kiinde Kozii Bottle Warmer is more expensive than other bottle warmers out there. Therefore, if you are trying to stay in budget for baby items, other cheaper bottle warmers can be more attractive. However, although the price is slightly higher than other brands, I feel it is worth to get a bottle warmer that preserves nutrients.

There Is No Audible End Beep.

Kiinde Kozii Bottle Warmer makes a clicking sound when a bottle finishes warming up. However, it is not loud enough. The bottle will not be overheated if the bottle is left in the bottle warmer since water will drain down to the bottom reservoir of the bottle warmer after warming is done. However it would be nice to hear the end beep in case you are away from the bottle warmer.

Final Thoughts

A bottle warmer is definitely not something you must have, however, it does provide a lot of convenience and benefits especially during stressful time when you are providing care for your baby. It is not easy to prepare warm water and warm the bottle yourself when you are so busy with your baby. Therefore, a bottle warmer for me was essential to have during the period I bottle-fed my baby.

For me, Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer worked out great. Not needing to add water every time I had to use the bottle warmer made warming a bottle more convenient. It was also truly easy and simple to use. Most of all, it kept important key nutrients for my baby. Although, Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer is a little higher price than other bottle warmers, it was worth it for me to get it just for this reason alone.

I didn’t choose any bottle warmers that use a steam method to heat up a bottle since it can overheat milk and destroy nutrients. I looked at bottle warmers that do not use a steam method. Chicco NaturalFit Two-in-One and Philips Avent Fast bottle warmers also use low temperature water bath method for heating a bottle.  Chicco NaturalFit Two-In-One bottle warmer was a lot cheaper than Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer. However, I didn’t choose this one because it doesn’t have a built-in reservoir. That means  I had to add water every time I use the bottle warmer. Phillips Avent Fast bottle warmer also uses water bath method to warm the water. However, I didn’t choose this bottle warmer since it didn’t have automatic shut off function. This can result overheating of water if I don’t keep an eye on the bottle warmer and know warming has been finished. Therefore, I felt that Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer offered a lot more and that was why the price was higher. If I have to purchase a bottle warmer again, I would still get a Kiinde Kozii bottle warmer.
