How can EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator help you?

Having a toddler and a dog in my family, all sorts of spills happen on the furniture and floor quite often. Sometimes, accompanied by a bad smell that I have to remedy quickly. Also lately, garbage in my kitchen has been bothering me for a while. Bad odors happen in our everyday life. Sometimes harsh chemical smells are accompanied by a new furniture or a new carpet. New furniture or carpeting often emits harsh chemical smells or harmful VOCs that can give you a headache or allergic reaction. It is sometimes impossible to get rid of these chemical odors.  Often, artificial fragrances such as air fresheners or scented candles are used to mask the smell. Sometimes, you clean the spot with cleaning supplies hoping to get rid of the odor. However, synthetic fragrances or many cleaning supplies have toxic chemicals including carcinogenic ingredients. You may try to air out your house but it could take weeks! Now, you can deodorize new carpet smells and chemical odors from furniture with EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator.  In this post, I share with you how odor eliminators can be toxic and how EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator can help you with bad odors without having toxic ingredients.

How Odor Eliminators Can Be Toxic

First, let’s look at how most air fresheners, candles or odor eliminators can be toxic and why we should avoid them.

Air Fresheners

Air fresheners can contain many hazardous chemicals such as fragrance, formaldehyde, phthalates, benzene, solvents, synthetic musks and benzenes. When we use air fresheners in the air, we can breathe in these toxic chemicals. Not only that, manufacturers are not required to disclosure the full list of ingredients in their air fresheners by law. Therefore, we don’t exactly know what toxic ingredients are added. Most brands use a term such as ‘fragrance’ or ‘odor eliminator’ which is a mixture of chemicals in their ingredient list. Fragrance, for example, is a widely used chemical in many air freshener or odor eliminator/neutralizer products. According to The Environmental Working Group, fragrance or perfume usually contains an undisclosed mixture of various scent chemicals and ingredients used as fragrance dispersants such as diethyl phthalate. Diethyl phthalate is linked to sperm damage in humans. Fragrance mixes have been linked to allergies, respiratory distress, dermatitis, and potential effects on the reproductive system. Fragrance is rated as a high hazardous chemical by Environmental Working Group.

Some examples of air fresheners include Lysol or Febreze air fresheners. Lysol Neutra Air Sanitizing Spray contains ingredients such as alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium Compounds, MIPA-borate and fragrance which have high or highest hazard concerns to health or environment. Febreze Air Effects contains benzisothiazolinone and fragrance. Benzisothiazolinone is high hazard chemical which can cause irritation to skin, eyes and lungs.  Air fresheners do not destroy odors. They often just cover them up with fragrance and can also contain other harmful chemicals.

Candles are also often used to eliminate odors. However, when we use scented candles, they also just mask the smell. They don’t get rid of the odors. Many scented candles use fragrance as their ingredients. They can also contain harmful chemicals such as acetone, toluene, benzyl acetate phenol and limonen. Not only that, most candles are made of paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is petroleum-based and emits harmful carcinogens  such as benzene, toluene or formaldehyde when it is burned. Some candles also have lead core wicks which contain lead.

Odor Eliminators Or Deodorizers

Odor eliminators and deodorizers can also contain harmful chemicals. You will see fragrance as an ingredient in most conventional odor eliminators or deodorizers in the market. Here are some examples of odor eliminators or deodorizers with harmful chemicals. Almost all of Arm & Hammer’s carpet deodorizers have fragrance as an ingredient.  Febreze Fabric Pet Ordor Eliminator contains high hazard chemical such as benzisothiazolinone, fragrance, didecyldimethylammonium chloride, diethylene glycol and polyamine polymer. Benzisothiazolinone is an antimicrobial agent used in many cleaning products.  It is a possible human sensitizer toxicant or allergen and it can cause Irritation on skin, eyes, or lungs.  It is also a known human immune system toxicant. Diethylene glycol is used as a fragrance ingredient or solvent, masking or perfuming. There are some concerns of cancer and developmental/endocrine/reproductive effects, and damage to DNA. Didecyldimethylammonium chloride is a highly toxic chemical which has respiratory effects and can cause severe skin burns and eye damage. Polyamine polymer is proprietory. No specific ingredients are disclosed for this chemical mix just like fragrance. Therefore, we won’t know exactly what chemicals are in it. Glade Tough Odor Solutions Sense & Spray Pet Odor Eliminator contains fragrance, isobutane, and propane. Isobutane is a human toxicant or allergen and has high contamination concerns of butadiene which is a known human carcinogen. Propane is also a human toxicant or allergen and it can cause Irritation on skin, eyes, or lungs. As you can see, odor eliminators or deodorizers can contain several harmful chemicals.

How EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator Can Help

The EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator was designed to safely and effectively remove odors and fragrances that are present in carpeting, wood flooring, solid surfaces, upholstery, furniture and vehicles. It can be used on soft or hard surfaces such as fabric or steel. It is non-staining and non-bleaching. It has high odor neutralizing capabilities utilizing ingredients that are safe to use by people who are sensitive to chemicals.

So What is EnvironKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator made of?  Simple 3 ingredients mixed with water. Unlike other products containing tons of chemicals, Environklenz Everyday Odor Eliminator have only 3 earth minerals as their ingredients. Let’s take a look what they are.

Magnesium hydroxide/Magnesium oxide

Magnesium Oxide is a mineral often used as a mineral supplement to treat or prevent low levels of magnesium in the blood. It is also used to relieve heartburn, constipation or indigestion. It is rated as a low hazard ingredient by EWG’s Skin Deep (rated 1 out of 10, 1 is the lowest and 10 is the highest hazard). When magnesium oxide is mixed with water, it turns into  magnesium hydroxide.  According to PubMed Health, magnesium hydroxide is most often used to relieve symptoms of acid stomach, and to help relieve constipation. EWG’s Skin Deep also does not rate this chemical as hazardous.  I haven’t found any study or data that says Magnesium hydroxide is carcinogenic to humans by its dermal, oral and inhalation exposures. Exposure to magnesium oxide fume can cause a metal fume fever which has flu-like symptoms. However, this fumes are produced when magnesium metal is burned or cut. Since magnesium oxide in EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator is not heated or cut when using the product, metal fume shouldn’t be a concern.

Zinc Oxide (ZnO)

Zinc Oxide is a mineral often used as an ingredient in topical applications to treat diaper rash, minor burns or minor skin irritations. It is rated low hazardous by EWG’s Skin Deep. Zinc oxide is nontoxic but just like magnesium oxide, if you are exposed to zinc oxide fumes when metal is heated, it could result a metal fume fever. However, this shouldn’t be a concern with EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator since zinc oxide is not heated when using the product.

Titanium Dioxide (TiO2)

Titanium Dioxide is a naturally occurring mineral often used as an ingredient in bright white paint, food coloring, sunscreens, cosmetics and other industrial uses. It is produced in two main forms: titanium dioxide and nano-sized titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is nontoxic, however, nano-sized titanium dioxide can be harmful if inhaled.  98 percent of total production of titanium dioxide is not nano-sized.  However, some products such as sunscreens make the size of titanium dioxide ultrafine to achieve UV absorbance but to reduce the white appearance when applied topically. The ingredients in The EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator is not nano-sized, therefore, this shouldn’t be a concern.

That is it!  EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator has only 3 ingredients. None of these ingredients are nano-sized. No fragrances or masking agents are added to cover up the odor. There are no other chemical agents used to make the product work.

How I Used EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator

I tried EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator with a food spill on our hardwood floor. Food I spilled was Korean pickled, fermented radish Kimchi and it had really strong, unpleasant smell. I cleaned spilled Kimchi from the hardwood floor but the smell of Kimchi was still very strong in the area.  So I applied diluted EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator onto the hardwood floor.  I waited 15 minutes, then wiped the residue. After the surfaces have been treated, a lot of the strong smell was gone!  Korean Radish Kimchi has such a strong odor, I actually treated the floor twice but after treating the floor twice, the odor was eliminated.

I also tried EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator with the food garbage container underneath the sink. Although food waste is placed in a plastic bag, the garbage container embedded some bad odors over a long period of use. I emptied the food waste first then sprayed the inside and outside of the garbage container with diluted EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator. Again, I waited for 15 minutes and wiped the surfaces. The result was great! The bad smell was gone.

You can use EnviroKelnz Everyday Odor Eliminator diluted or not diluted with water depending on the surface you are treating. You will find how to use EnviroKlenz Odor Eliminator on different surfaces here. I diluted it with 4 parts of warm water to 1 part of EnvironKlenz Odor Eliminator. Then I placed the liquid in a spray bottle to spray on the surface. (You can also wipe it onto the surfaces of the trash can with a rag.) There is actually a product you can use for just garbage. It is called  EnviroKlenz Neutralizer Granules, which you can shake on top of the garbage in the can to stop odors from being emitted. If you want to eliminate odors from a garbage can without emptying the contents, EnviroKlenz Neutralizer Granules will work great!

Final Thoughts

I wish that I knew about this product a little sooner because my husband and I moved recently and we just bought new furniture. We opened the window whenever we could in the beginning because they had the ‘new furniture smell’. EnviroKlenz Every Odor Eliminator would have been great at that time. I stopped buying air freshers and scented candles long time ago due to the toxic ingredients they have. As I have guessed, many conventional odor eliminators and deodorizers contain toxic ingredients. EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator, on the other hand, only has 3 earth minerals as their ingredients. It is formulated for chemical-sensitive individuals. It is easy to use and it works!  You can read the reviews by people who have benefited with their new carpets, flooring, furnitures, vehicles, pet litter boxes and many more.  I am actually planning to have hardwood flooring and kitchen & bathroom tiles replaced for my home. I am excited to use EnviroKlenz Everyday Odor Eliminator when the new flooring and tiles are installed. Since all flooring of our home will be replaced, I assume my house will have chemicals smells for a while. I’m glad I came across this product because I will be able to get rid of the chemical odors after our renovations.  My family and I won’t have to live with chemical odors and suffer from them.
